A 25-year-old man, who allegedly committed over 30 snatching and robberies in the past three months, was arrested in the capital, police said today. Sunil Kumar was apprehended yesterday from near Khan Market while he was riding a stolen motorcycle. "He was signalled to stop for checking, but he tried to escape.

He was overpowered by police," Additional Commissioner of Police (New Delhi) Shankar Dass said. A country-made pistol and a stolen mobile phone were also recovered from him. According to Dass, Kumar along with his brother-in-law Dalip have committed more than 30 snatching and robberies in the past three months in various parts of Delhi. At his instance, stolen mobile phones and ladies bags have been recovered from his rented room located at Begam Pur in Malviya Nagar, the officer said. "Kumar and Dalip used stolen motorcycles with fake number plate for snatching. Mainly they used to target women carrying handbags and cell phone. Kumar used to carry a fire-arm," Dass said. Kumar earlier used to supply country-made liquor in Sangam Vihar, police said.

Last year, Kumar and Dalip were arrested in two cases of robbery registered in Faridabad and Ballabhgarh of Haryana.He was also arrested twice in excise cases.
